Putting together an album from scratch in one month requires some conceptual bookkeeping. I dusted off a notebook that had seen only occasional use and gave it a good workout in February of 2007.
I've scanned those pages and written up some commentary about what I wrote, where these ideas come from, and how I go about putting together songs. Revel in the scrawled notation! Chortle at the fevered redactions! Despair at songs left inchoate!
You can read the whole thing straight through—start at the front cover.
Or just jump in—there's a slice of every page, on the left or on the right, so that you can click right through to a random bit of Josh.
