More of All the Girls: a couple of verses scrawled down in a sitting, unanswered middle school and high school crushes respectively.
The verse melody I wrote here is much cleaner and complicated than what I ended up singing on the album—another one of those Looks Good On Paper things. I was writing with sort of an old Phil Spector, Leader of the Pack-ish sound in mind originally—influence of The Harvey Girls, I suspect—but the recording went away from that; now the verses make me think more about some of the songs off Beck's Sea Change.
Bottom right: the big move, sketched. I wanted to do a modulation, just to do one. I had recently played with a violinist who reportedly knew a cellist, and I thought it would be cool to score out a little two-part string interlude, but I never put that together during the month. You can see here a couple of tiny incoherent musical notes—later in the month, I worked out a full harmonic layout for the bridge.
