As of February 28th, I was effectively done recording the album—I had a band practice that evening, so I had only a little time after work and then late that night to work on final mixes, and recording new audio was out of the question at 10 PM in an apartment with a sleeping wife.
The last-minute edits were literally that, then—I had done a rough mix of the album on the 27th, and listened to it about a half-dozen times during the day on the 28th, finally making three pages of notes and then working on either side of band practice to get as many of those things addressed as I could.
Notable omission: I was going to cut the outro chorus-repeat on All the Girls by a couple of full cycles, but when push came to shove I didn't want to invest the time required to do that cleanly, and I didn't want to do it quickly and badly. So it's still too long, I think, but reworking the dynamics of that bit—making the build slower than the original mix, cutting the lead lines for the hush at the end—helped a lot.
