Interlude 1: on the 18th, I played some music at a coffeeshop where my sister was working, as a favor/experiment. I wrote a set a list out with my wife beforehand, but forgot to grab it when we left, so I regenerated it on the bus ride over.
There was no one there. The experiment (live acoustic music in the shop) was pretty much a failure. C'est la vie—it was a nice excuse to sit and perform solo, something I haven't really done in a while. After I'd been there a while, a couple of bandmates showed up and sang along with a couple things, and then we all went out for beers.
Along with a lot of older stuff, I played pretty much everything so far written for Manifests (except for 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 and Metal Things, neither of which could be performed solo on acoustic guitar without scaring the hell out of people, I think). I brought along a minitape recorder and taped the whole thing; the audio is pretty unlistenable, but it's nice to have a snapshot, however lofi, of the album-in-progress.
