More notes on Open Mic. The thematic use of actual clapping played against the chorus thesis ("everybody claps") is one of my favorite little things on the album. The first time people hear it, they smile or laugh—or at least that was my experience with the small sample of folks I got feedback from after recording the demo. It might not work for really grumpy people, I guess.

I had hoped to get a whole bunch of people together to clap for the album, but it didn't happen in February—for the final recording, I had my wife and my brother clap through several cycles and just layered those bits together to try to create a bit of a crowd sound. (For the demo, I just recorded myself clapping three or four times.)
