Hiya! Actually, I think you hit the nail on the head for a nonce attempt at “cute self-deprecation” — the ‘drama penguin’ imagery is pretty nice, and I’m not sure it’d have caught my eye if it were less so.

Don’t mind the proprietary grumbling from your namesake; I have it on good authority that they’re not too serious about the whole thing anyway.

For what it’s worth, speculation about language acquisition’s role in this notwithstanding, your English seems excellent.

Did you know you inspired (independent of this blog post) another mefite to sign up a Drama Penguin account?

Hi everyone. I am the fucker posting that metafilter anonymous post. I am not a native english speaker, but I am learning, slowly.

Sorry for causing this much confusion. I was referring to myself as the penguin (as I am not a queen). didn’t mean to hurt anyone’s feelings or steel anyone’s nicknames. I was just doing some cute self-deprecation. My apologies to the real ‘drama penguin’. I assure you, you are the queen of all drama penguins. you are the real drama penguin queen.

By the way, penguins are soo really good in the water, actually fish think that penguins must be great runners on land.

So some fucker on MetaFilter has stolen my good name. I knew this was coming. And they’ll probably start making dumb comments and people will be all “Ha ha, look at that dumb drama penguin!” I know there’s nothing I can do but flap helplessly, and then I’ll probably fall into the water and get laughed at some more. I’m used to it. But I’ll never understand why the Great Penguin allows such cruelty to exist. All I ask is a little love and understanding. IS THAT TOO MUCH?

I think the reading of “infatuating” as being just a malformed attempt at “infatuated” makes the most sense in context, but I do like the idea of someone actively, willfully infatuating someone else.

I read that too and all I could figure was it was a reference to March of the Penguins, where the main theme was love and mating. I also thought the use of “infatuating” in the post was rather odd. Is he digging on someone, or causing them to dig on him?

Why must everyone always pick on me?! I’m a penguin, all right? And I have a heart, a soul, I don’t go around with my eyes straight ahead and my mind on the balance sheet like all those ZOMBIES I see around me every day. I put myself out there, my heart is on my flipper, when another penguin pushes me into the icy water I pretend to laugh but inside? Inside, I HURT. When I infatuate, it HURTS. And you’re not making it any easier.

But that’s all right. I’m used to it. I can take it. I am penguin, I am strong, I WILL SURVIVE.
