Help the Fight Against MS (Comic Sans)

Miniature outrage of the day: it strikes me as a very poor choice, when circulating an e-mail announcement of a diabetes support group, to set said announcement in a font as sickly-sweet in character as MS Comic Sans.

Zen and the Art of Headline Disambiguation

One of my daily reads (along with MetaTalk and a handful of webcomics) is a faboo linguistics-centric group blog called Language Log. Great stuff from a few regulars and a few not-so-regulars.

For the last month or so, I’ve been reading slowly through the archives, moving steadily backward after consuming the (too few!) daily updates — I’m currently in mid-August 2005, so these archives should last me a good long time. And just now, I hit a nice little copy-editing snafu that Arnold Zwicky managed to catch. Glad someone is watching the headlines for me.
